An article available at the Harvard Business Review website really resonates with my experience. In summary, the study authors found that "progress" on projects was the greatest motivator. In contrast, most managers surveyed cited factors such as "recognition" or "incentives" as most important.
This is great information for managers and leaders. We can focus on making real progress, and everyone wins!
